Here at the Kensington & Chelsea School of Krav Maga in the heart of West London we practice and teach Urban Krav Maga a system founded by a group of instructors experienced across various styles of Krav Maga and other fighting systems. Urban Krav Maga is a scenario- based system, the syllabus being based on defenses against the 10 most common street attacks in the UK. These are based upon statistics compiled from the police.

The core syllabus also contains a range of techniques applicable to female self-defense, grappling (stand-up and on the ground), fighting/sparring techniques and weapons defenses. You will learn to deal with punches, chokes, grabs, knives, guns, bottles, bats. and how to fight on the ground. Along with this you will learn how to strike to defend yourself and more importantly pre-emptive striking in order to stop the altercation before it starts

The techniques we employ are relatively simple and easy to learn. They rely on gross motor skills which remain effective under the intense stress of a real street attack. The training we provide will enable you to handle aggressive, stressful or violent situations with confidence; improve your fitness; and you will have fun while learning a useful life-skill.

Our aim is to equip the student as soon as possible to defend themselves against the most common attacks.

Urban Krav Maga is the only style of Krav Maga that:

(i) has been asked to provide a British Combat Association Masterclass;

(ii) has produced 2 highly acclaimed DVD sets in 2008/2009;

(iii) has been created - and continually updated - by a number of Martial Artists experienced across a range of disciplines;

(iv) has a syllabus based around defending the 10 most common attacks you are likely to face in the street;

(v) teaches a range of pre-emptive strikes and moves adapted to work for people against bigger/multiple opponents;

(vi) has Leo Negao, 4-time world Brazilian Jiu Jitsu champion as an Instructor; Leo is also our Advisor on groundwork and regularly trains the top Instructors.

(vii) has been asked to run the Krav Maga stand at 2010's Seni show, the biggest Martial arts exhibition in the UK

Police in South London using Urban Krav Maga on the job

'Just a quick note to say thank you for the on-going training. It has surpassed everything I hoped it would be. Over the years I have done a few martial arts at various levels and I have to say this is the by far the most effective and easiest to learn. For me it has the added bonus of being easily integrated into my work. I have used the techniques you teach on a number of occasions and have been complimented by my colleagues on their effectiveness. The two times that spring to mind are detaining a man from a pub, he was determined to make a stand of it - however with the upper torso redirection of force and choke working exactly as trained - his stand was very short lived. Most recently I had a lad try to assault my outside a hospital, the head pivot and straight arm restraint once on the floor ensured that he did only try to assault me and wasn't at all successful. I know it is a cliché but 'this stuff really works!'.I would thoroughly recommend Urban Krav Maga and in particular Paul, with all his experience, to anyone considering a martial art.'
