Here at the Kensington & Chelsea School of Krav Maga in the heart of West London we practice and teach Urban Krav Maga a system founded by a group of instructors experienced across various styles of Krav Maga and other fighting systems. Urban Krav Maga is a scenario- based system, the syllabus being based on defenses against the 10 most common street attacks in the UK. These are based upon statistics compiled from the police.

The core syllabus also contains a range of techniques applicable to female self-defense, grappling (stand-up and on the ground), fighting/sparring techniques and weapons defenses.

The techniques we employ are relatively simple and easy to learn. They rely on gross motor skills which remain effective under the intense stress of a real street attack. The training we provide will enable you to handle aggressive, stressful or violent situations with confidence; improve your fitness; and you will have fun while learning a useful life-skill.

Urban Krav Maga is not affiliated to any military organization. The system is designed for civilian self protection and addresses the scenarios you may face in modern city life. We have no political affiliations and it is very important to us that our school is a place where people from many diverse backgrounds can come and train together and make good friends.

Urban Krav Maga in Reality-

"I was walking through Marylebone Station and as I exited the station, I was asked by a man walking behind me whether I had any money. I said no. He persisted in his questions. I had a pregnant friend with me and was mindful of a situation occuring.

I turned to the man and responed negatively that I had no money. The man came closer to me. I put my hand on him (putting up the fence) and told him I didn't want any trouble. He got annoyed. I asked him to calm down. At that point he asked me again for money and threatened me with a stabbing if I would not comply. I asked him whether he had ever had his hair in a ponytail in order to distract him, following quickly with an elbow strike to the face.

There was a tussle, I stuck my fingers in his eyes and disengaged. I made sure my friend was ok and then walked quickly back to my office entrance.

When interviewed by the Police I was positively commended by them on my pre-emptive behaviour when threatened by a potential attacker, well known to them and our security.

From one lesson with Paul (Urban Krav, Kensington and Chelsea) I managed to employ the fence technique to gain space and protect myself and distract my attacker so that I could pre-empt his threat to stab me. Paul could well have saved my life."
